History

Syracuse Artisan Studios and Gallery, formally located at 100 E. Main Street, Syracuse, Indiana, opened its doors on November 4, 2009. Syracuse Artisan Studios (SAS) was founded by area artisans with the goal of offering opportunities for learning while nurturing the artistic spirit of those who live in Kosciusko County and the surrounding area. With an emphasis on “Upcycling”—creating pieces from found objects—SAS artisans offer architectural collage, mosaics, a re-purposed textile line, vintage lace ceramics, fused glass, sculpture, paintings, and jewelry.

It is the Mission of the Syracuse Artisan Studios:

• To nurture the artistic spirit of those who live in Kosciusko County and the surrounding areas.
• To offer opportunities that will enhance the appreciation of art and its importance in our everyday lives.
• To foster an environment where artists can flourish and active learners can observe them as they work.
• To offer classes with hands on learning experiences for inquiring minds of all ages.
• To offer age appropriate and curricularly compatible classes for area school students.
• To provide leadership in the development and coordination of community activities and programs with artistic adventures that will enhance the lifelong learning experiences and enjoyment of all who participate.
